Craig Wood
Craig WoodChief Executive Officer
Craig possesses international experience in corporate management, structured finance and the energy and technology sectors. Prior to joining Vast Solar in 2015, he worked in London, New York, Sydney and Perth with Lehman Brothers, Archer Capital and Browne’s Dairy in senior executive operational roles. He has held directorships, CEO and CFO roles in diverse industrial and manufacturing organisations. Craig holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering (1st Hons) and Science from The University of Western Australia and Masters Degrees from the London Business School and the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
Kurt Drewes
Kurt DrewesChief Technology Officer
Kurt is a CSP professional with extensive experience across a range of CSP technologies and roles in numerous countries over a decade. Prior to joining Vast Solar in early 2017, Kurt worked with ACWA as Project Director, Redstone, South Africa, as well as providing technical advice to ACWA’s Noor 3 project in Morocco. He has also worked with leading CSP firms in Spain and Germany in management and operational manufacturing roles. Kurt holds a Master of Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Witswatersrand, South Africa.
Bruce Leslie
Bruce LeslieProduct Development
Bruce leads Vast Solar’s heliostat and solar field productisation and manufacturing supply chain initiatives. For over 30 years, his career has focused on innovative engineering design, complex multi-disciplinary technical projects, and the commercialisation of engineering designs. His designs for dragline buckets, excavator lips and wear parts for the mining sector are internationally recognised through multiple patents and the award of a Doctor of Engineering degree. Active in renewable energy since 2006, Bruce joined Vast Solar in early 2018.
Bruce holds BE (Mech Hons), MEngSc and DEng degrees from The University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and the Australian Institute of Energy.
Christina Hall
Christina HallFinance
Christina brings extensive financial experience to the business having spent her career advising and assisting businesses and their stakeholders in recovering, maintaining and building enterprise value in Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe specialising in financial and operational restructuring. Christina joined Vast Solar in 2016 and holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Technology, Sydney, is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Lachlan Roberts
Lachlan RobertsConstruction
Lachlan is an experienced construction industry professional with extensive Australian and international execution experience. He has developed and delivered projects in the oil & gas, minerals and infrastructure sectors for both construction contractors and client organisations in regional, remote and offshore locations. Prior to joining Vast Solar in early 2021, he held General Manager positions with Monadelphous Engineering and he holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School (University of Melbourne).
Brian Menzies
Brian MenziesBusiness Development
Brian is one of the founding members of Vast Solar and today he leads the business research, development and analytics team. Prior to returning to Australia to help establish the Company, Brian worked as a business strategy consultant with Bain & Co in the United States, and as an IT consultant in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Brian has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern) and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Simon Woods
Simon WoodsTransactions
Simon brings over twenty years’ transactional experience in investment banking and law, with a focus on project and structured finance. Prior to joining Vast Solar in early 2021 to lead the Transactions team, Simon was an Investment Director in ARENA’s origination and transactions team from 2014-2021, leading investment across a broad range of renewable energy and enabling technologies (e.g., solar PV, wind, CSP, hybrids, battery storage, thermal storage, pumped hydro and bioenergy) and projects (e.g., early stage VC-style investments to later stage project finance). Simon is a CFA Charterholder and is admitted as a solicitor in Queensland and in England & Wales.
Alec Waugh
Alec WaughGeneral Counsel
Alec is an experienced legal and commercial professional who has worked with Vast Solar since 2015 to provide general legal support and commercial guidance. He has played a critical role in the development of Vast Solar’s IP strategy and portfolio and overall approach to risk management and compliance. Alec possesses over 20 years of legal and commercial experience across a wide range of food, agri services and manufacturing businesses, in General Counsel roles with Zip Industries, Brownes Foods, the Fonterra Co-op Group and Campbells/Arnott’s.
Alec has been admitted as a solicitor since 1997 and holds a Diploma in Law (SAB), from Sydney University.
Sue Opie
Sue OpiePeople
Sue is a Senior HR Executive with over 20 years HR strategic, operational and project experience. Sue has worked with 3M, iNova Pharmaceuticals and HealtheCare in senior HR management roles and since 2018 has provided HR consulting services to medium sized businesses. Throughout her career Sue has worked closely with Executive and management teams to develop HR strategy, deliver HR operational services, be a facilitator for the Company’s vision, lead transformational change, build leadership capability, drive a performance culture and enhance employee engagement

Sue holds a B.Science Psychology (Hons) from the University of NSW and Masters of Management from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
